Getting advice
Buying into a retirement village isn't the same as buying a house. You'll be buying a right to occupy, which is probably something that's new to you. We want to help you find as much information as you need so you can feel confident in your decision.
It's really important that you get independent legal advice – in fact, we won't let you sign your contract without it! We welcome your questions, no matter how big or small, and we also suggest you contact the following organisations for independent education and advice about the industry and buying process.

Who to contact for advice
- The Retirement Villages Association (RVA)
When a village is a member of the RVA, it means their practices are in accordance with the law and they're committed to the highest levels of service. Visit the RVA website or call (04) 499 7090. - Retirement Village Residents Association New Zealand Inc
Understand your rights as a retirement village resident. - Commission for Financial Capability
