At Arena Living, our residents always come first. Our experienced staff strive to help residents live life to the fullest.
Mayfair Village Manager
“I’m lucky enough to be the Village Manager at Mayfair Village which has a wonderful community spirit and appreciative residents.
My background is a bit of a mixed bag – I’ve worked in marketing, print production, and hospitality. My previous position was as a village manager at another retirement village down south.
I work with fantastic people here. The residents and my team of staff make me look forward to coming to work. The best thing about this job is that every day you go home feeling good. I love making the residents smile and knowing I have made a difference.
As some of the residents may know, my other passions are motorbikes and cars. I’m also a bit of a foodie and I love cooking.”
Mt Eden Gardens Village Manager
Mt Eden Gardens has it all: size, location, character . . . the list goes on. However, there is no question about it – the residents and staff are the best part! Because we are such a small Village, we really get to know each other. It feels like one big extended family. It really is home and as we all know, there is no place like home.
I started in Tauranga in the Hospitality Industry in 2009 with a key focus on improved customer service and kitchen management. When I moved to Auckland in 2013, I gravitated towards the Retirement Industry and haven’t looked back.
It is a very rewarding job, making a difference and contributing to a great retirement experience for all of our residents.
Ocean Shores Village Manager
“I may be biased, but I think Ocean Shores is the best village in the Bay! I’ve lived in this area for 21 years, and I love it here.
I’ve been at Ocean Shores for over 12 years and I’m very proud to have won RVA Manager of the Year 2013.
The best thing about my job is the people. Seeing our residents enjoying retirement through the ages, and seeing the difference we can make to their lives is so satisfying. I get a real buzz out of attending functions and seeing our residents going out at night, dancing and having a great time.
Being Arena’s only village outside Auckland, one of my highlights is taking a bus full of residents up to take part in our inter-village games. Not only is it a great chance to mix with the rest of the Arena family, but it is real quality time with our residents . . . with an edge of competitiveness!”
Parklane Village Manager
“I just love the people and the community spirit here. Parklane is a small village and everyone really cares about each other. From the minute you drive in, you fall in love with the gardens and you pick up on an ambience that comes even more alive when you enter the Community Centre.
This is a very active village, there’s always something happening, and I love when I can sit in on a game of billiards, bowls or Rummikub. I’m lucky to have so much variety and unpredictability in my job.
My previous experience has had a community and customer experience focus, including running a community charity art gallery, marketing, training staff in IT software, and across the board hospitality (cook, receptionist, driver, porter, bar attendant, and waitress).
One of my more memorable days here was when a family member of one of my residents asked if I could be her marriage celebrant. I married them in our beautiful gardens by the pond and aviary.”
Peninsula Club Village Manager
“My favourite thing about Peninsula Club is the warm and caring environment. The residents and the staff here have such a great relationship.
I started in this industry way back in January 1990. I’ve held a number of management positions over the years, ranging from supplying building materials to managing a team of superannuation consultants to project management with a large property company. I always thoroughly enjoyed working in retirement villages so it’s great to have come back to it again.
What I love about this job is seeing residents visibly enjoying their retirement in this beautiful location.
When I’m not at the Village, I’m at home in Warkworth, where I enjoy spending time with family and friends.”
